Andenloo sits on the mouth of the river Fino and is half sleepy fishing village and half destination for the Imperial Corps der Marineninfanterie from nearby Fort Gerisch on leave. The contrast between fishermen and marines is most evident as the sun rises and the pescatores of Andenloo set out to sea just as the soldiers exit the brothels, inns and taverns.

A regiment of the Marineninfanterie Military Police is permanently garrisoned in the town.
