Almost a nation unto itself, the United East Seoria Company–UNESCO for short–is the vast, royally chartered trading company that operates on the eastern seaboard of Seoria. At sea, it employs more sailors than the Imperial Navy, and likely has more ships too (but less cannon). On land, it employs a corps of soldiers to guard its factories and trade ports, an army of clerks to run its numbers and a staff of very wealthy managers and officers. Even though its charter technically only allows the company to ply its trade in East Seoria, lawyers quickly noted there was nothing explicitly prohibiting it from doing business elsewhere, which is why its ships have a tendency to appear wherever doubloons can be made. A popular joke holds that anyone can be a magician: all it takes to summon a UNESCO ship is a few doubloons, after all.
