While [[towns:Split]] and [[cities:Shandarvale]] are much more numerous, there is still a surprising amount of people in the village surrounding the sprawling fortifications of Puntoforte. Originally built early in the Empire's history, it has since been upgraded and improved every time a new style of fighting has been invented. This means the fortress is vast and ancient, and parts of it are open to the public from time to time.

It protects one of the major crossings of the Shandar River, the approach to the capital itself, and the starting point of the (comically misnamed) Lonely Road that stretches across the Azimiddan Highlands towards the Imperial Free City.

Home of the Imperial Army's II. Corps as well as the Light Division.

Puntoforte Fortress trains **Skirmishers**. Training takes 1d6 weeks and 20 doubloons per soldier.
