For example, "www.example.com" can be set as a CNAME for "example.com," meaning both will resolve to the same IP address. CNAME Record (Canonical Name Record): A CNAME record allows a domain name to be an alias for another domain name.

For instance, online gaming and live broadcasting use UDP to send data quickly, even if some packets are dropped. The lack of error-checking and retransmission in UDP means that applications must be designed to handle potential data loss. UDP ports are particularly important for applications that require low latency and can tolerate some data loss.

Static IP Address: For players to connect to your server consistently, it’s best to have a static IP address. This ensures that the server's IP does not change, making it easier for players to connect.

While VNC does not natively support encryption, several VNC variants offer secure connections. If your VNC version does not support encryption, consider tunneling VNC through SSH (Secure Shell). SSH provides a secure channel over an unsecured network and can encrypt VNC traffic. For example, TightVNC and TigerVNC have options for encrypted connections.

This may include blocking the offending IP address, implementing additional security measures, or conducting a more thorough investigation. Respond Promptly: If you detect a port scanning attempt, take immediate action.

Step 1: Install an SSH server on the machine you want to access remotely. Use the command:
```bash
ssh -L 5901:localhost:5900 user@remote-ip
```
This command forwards port 5901 on your local machine to port 5900 on the remote machine. Step 2: On the client machine, establish an SSH connection with port forwarding.

Avoid using common or easily guessable passwords. The first line of defense in securing VNC is to set a strong password. It should be at least 12 characters long to provide an adequate level of security. A strong password should include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

Setting up a Minecraft server on port 25565 is an enjoyable and rewarding process that allows players to create and manage their unique gaming environments. Whether for personal use or to create a larger gaming community, the benefits of hosting a Minecraft server are well worth the effort. By following the steps outlined in this case study, anyone can successfully host a Minecraft server, fostering a community of players eager to explore and build together.

If everything is set up correctly, you should be able to connect to your server. Once the server is running, it is essential to test the connection. Open Minecraft on a separate device and enter your public IP address followed by `:25565` in the server address field.

- Open a terminal window.
- Type the command `sudo netstat -tuln` and press Enter. This command lists all open ports along with the corresponding protocol (TCP/UDP).
- Alternatively, you can use `ss -tuln`, which is a more modern tool that provides similar information.

A minimum of 2GB of RAM is recommended for a small server, while larger servers may require more. Hardware Requirements: The server should have sufficient hardware to run Minecraft smoothly. The CPU should also be capable of handling multiple connections.

You can typically install it using your package manager (e.g., `sudo apt-get install nmap` for Debian-based systems).
- Run the command `nmap -sT localhost` to scan for open TCP ports on your local machine. Using Nmap:
- Install Nmap if it’s not already available on your system.

Restricting user access is another crucial step in securing VNC. Each user should have their own unique credentials rather than sharing accounts. This practice not only enhances security but also allows for better tracking of user activity. Only allow necessary users to connect to the VNC server.

The first time you run the server, it will generate several files, including `eula.txt`. Save and close the file. Open this file and change `eula=false` to `eula=true` to accept the End User License Agreement.

These tools often offer additional features, such as port scanning and detailed information about services running on those ports. Using Third-Party Tools:
- There are various third-party tools like Nmap and CurrPorts that can provide a user-friendly interface for checking open ports.

Well-known Ports (0-1023): These ports are reserved for widely used protocols and services. For example, HTTP operates on port 80, while [[https://check-port.com/th/port-info/443|HTTPS port 443 ตรวจสอบพอร์ต]] uses port 443. These ports are standardized and recognized across the Internet.

Look for repeated attempts from the same IP address or rapid connections to various ports. Log Analysis: Regularly reviewing logs from firewalls, servers, and routers can help identify unusual patterns.(Image: [[https://1400dba1c2.clvaw-cdnwnd.com/fe7099f84124b4d0b5b918f502a8b366/200000991-42b8042b82/TUTM.CITY20EUROPE.jpg?ph=1400dba1c2|https://1400dba1c2.clvaw-cdnwnd.com/fe7099f84124b4d0b5b918f502a8b366/200000991-42b8042b82/TUTM.CITY20EUROPE.jpg?ph=1400dba1c2]])
