A building roof caved in during January 2026, damaging six classrooms and forcing temporary student dismissal. The incident drew attention from the West Java Regional House of Representatives, which called for immediate repairs and stricter oversight of school construction standards. Rebuilding efforts were slated to begin, with authorities emphasizing the importance of technical compliance and safety for students and staff.

For families in the Gunung Putri and Cibubur areas, SMAN 2 Gunung Putri represents a viable public education option with a growing reputation.
