Plumb2U stocks flexible hoses across the bore sizes, lengths and pressure ratings trade buyers actually need, all carrying the approval marks that matter, at trade prices with next-day despatch. Picking the right connector first time, rather than the closest one to hand, is a small decision that avoids a much bigger callback later.

Neither option is a universal upgrade over the other; each solves a different starting condition, and the right call is decided by the pipework already in the property, not by brand preference.

An instantaneous electric water heater does not store hot water at all. Cold mains water passes through a heating element on its way to the tap, and the unit's kW rating decides how much temperature rise it can deliver at a given flow rate. Push more flow through it and the water comes out cooler; the physics does not bend. That makes instantaneous units a sensible spec for a single low-demand outlet, a small flat, a static caravan, a workshop sink or a holiday let where two people are never running hot water at once.

Water pressure and flow available at the shower's cold feed matter just as much as the electrics. An electric shower can only heat the water that reaches it; a poor incoming flow rate limits performance regardless of how high the kW rating goes, since there is simply less water for the unit to raise in temperature.

This is the practical case for softening in the parts of the UK where mains water runs hard: not as a lifestyle upgrade, but as protection for the heating elements, appliances and pipework that hard water otherwise wears down faster than it should. A softener does not fix existing scale damage on its own, but it stops new scale forming, [[https://365.expresso.blog/question/combi-system-or-regular-boiler-spares-differ-by-type/|Plumbers Merchants]] which changes the maintenance picture on a property considerably over the following years.

Signs worth watching for on a job include a shower or tap that has visibly lost pressure without any obvious blockage, a heating element or immersion that keeps tripping or under-performing, white scale flaking off fittings when they are removed, and appliances needing more frequent descaling or repair than would be expected. Individually, any one of these could have another cause. Together, in a property in a known hard-water area, they point fairly clearly at scale.
