A major factor in Indonesian student life is religion. Since the country has the biggest Muslim population globally, Indonesia integrates religious education into public schools. Muslim students study Islam, while Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and Confucian students receive lessons in their own traditions. There are also madrasahs and pesantren that blend general subjects with intensive religious training.

Digital tools are reshaping education. Throughout the health crisis, schools shifted to online learning, revealing both the potential and the deep inequalities of the system. Since then, blended learning has become more common, and many teachers now use apps, videos, and online quizzes alongside traditional methods.

The drive to do well is intense, but so is the resilience of young people navigating a system that is still developing. If reforms continue in teacher quality, access, and curriculum, Indonesian students have the potential to compete on the world stage.
