Levitra had no effect on the pharmacodynamics of glyburide (glucose and insulin concentrations) and warfarin (prothrombin time or other pharmacodynamic parameters). Studies in human liver microsomes showed that vardenafil is metabolized primarily by cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoforms 3A4/5, and to a lesser degree by CYP2C9. Therefore, inhibitors of these enzymes are expected to reduce vardenafil clearance.
What Is Erectile Dysfunction?
Indinavir (800 mg t.i.d.) co-administered with Levitra 10 mg resulted in a 16-fold increase in vardenafil AUC, a 7-fold increase in vardenafil Cmax and a 2-fold increase in vardenafil half-life. It is recommended not to exceed a single 2.5 mg Levitra dose in a 24-hour period when used in combination with indinavir. Levitra is used to treat adult men (aged 18 years or over) with erectile dysfunction (sometimes called impotence), when they cannot get or keep a hard penis (erection) sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity.
tablet, oral disintegrating tablet (generic)
You should consult your health care professional before taking any drug, changing your diet, or commencing or discontinuing any course of treatment. Other medications can affect the removal of vardenafil from your body, buy xanax without prescrition which may affect how vardenafil works. Examples include azole antifungals (such as itraconazole, ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (such as clarithromycin, erythromycin), ritonavir, among others. Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start taking vardenafil and each time you get a refill.
Effect of Co-administration of Potent CYP3A4 Inhibitors
One tablet (10mg) is the maximum dose of Staxyn and there are no other doses available. This means you can only take a maximum of one vardenafil OD tablet per day. If a 10mg dose of vardenafil doesn’t offer you the results you’re looking for, you’ll need to go with regular Levitra which is available at a 20mg dose. If you take the 10mg dose of Levitra and find that you get an erection and can continue to get an erection for that 4-5 hour window, a higher dose won’t necessarily mean that Levitra’s effect will last longer. What this will do is increase the chances that you will experience unnecessary side effects.
In placebo-controlled clinical trials, the discontinuation rate due to adverse events was 3.4% for LEVITRA compared to 1.1% for placebo. Levitra works by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the penile tissue. During sexual arousal, nitric oxide (NO) is released, which increases cGMP levels. This relaxes the smooth muscles in the penis and improves blood flow, resulting in an erection. By blocking PDE5, Levitra helps maintain higher cGMP levels, enhancing the erectile response. Levitra (vardenafil hydrochloride) is an oral medication taken to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).
The plasma concentration of M1 is approximately 26% that of the parent compound. This metabolite shows a phosphodiesterase selectivity profile similar to that of vardenafil and an in vitro inhibitory potency for PDE5 28% of that of vardenafil. Therefore, M1 accounts for approximately 7% of total pharmacologic activity. Do not use LEVITRA in patients who are using a GC stimulator, such as riociguat. PDE5 inhibitors, including LEVITRA may potentiate the hypotensive effects of GC stimulators.
